OPEN TO SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS AND SENIORS

This course gives the student a chance to explore a variety of clay sculptural forms, as well as functional objects.  Throwing on the wheel and hand-building techniques are integral parts of this course.  Student will be given a variety of assignments, which will expose them to the basic art concepts, skills and techniques needed to translate their ideas into visual terms. Emphasis is placed on developing an understanding and appreciation of artists, past and present, in the ceramics field. In addition to developing their technical skills, students will be challenged to think critically and creatively about their own work and the work of their peers. They will be expected to participate actively in class critiques and discussions.
