Parents are invited to participate in the life of the high school in a variety of ways.

• ARHS Parent Guardian Organization--a communication center, resource center, and clearing house for parent/guardians and the community at large. The PGO also works to be a link between school, families and the community. All parent/guardians are welcome to join the parent center, which is an independent organization.

• School Council -- a representative body of parents, staff and students

• Amherst Education Foundation (AEF)-- committed to raising funds in support of the Amherst public schools.

• Friends of Amherst Regional Performing Arts --working to keep music, theater and dance alive in our schools

• Hurricane Boosters--an organization to support student athletes.

• Public Meetings at ARHS --including monthly meetings for parents with ARHS administrators

• PowerSchool Portal --see attendance and assignment data for your student; initial access requires a signed form to be presented in person at the main office

• College Planning Office -- find copies of all college documents that have been sent home; lists of college visits and college fairs; standardized testing information

• Guidance Office -- for questions about your student’s schedule or academic progress

• Contact Information for Parent/Guardian Concerns -- what should you do when you have a concern you would like to express to the school?

Periodically, we need to notify parents of some urgent news or to provide information about an incident that has occurred at the high school. At these times, a letter is printed and a copy is sent home with each student. The letter is also posted on the school web site, with a link from the front page under "Latest News."

In addition, we send an email message and/or an automated phone message (known as "ConnectEd") to inform parents of the information. If you have email access, please be sure that you have provided us with your current email address.
