IMPORTANT CANCELLATION NOTICE
We're sorry to announce that THE BOYS CHOIR OF KENYA is no longer able to come to Amherst. All events and performances have been canceled including the potluck dinner scheduled for 5:00 p.m. this Sunday, November 19, the assembly for students Monday morning, and the concert at Amherst Regional High School Monday evening, November 20.
David Ranen, Music Department Chair, will be at the high school auditorium on Monday night to issue refunds for tickets. You will need to present your tickets in order to receive a refund. For those who cannot pick up your refund on Monday, alternative refund arrangements can be made by contacting Wendy Kohler, Executive Director of Program Development, at kohlerw@arps.org. Emailed requests must include name and mailing address. If you wish to donate your ticket purchase price (or any portion of it) as a gift to the Amherst Schools' Music Department, please email Dr. Kohler with that information and your gift will be acknowledged accordingly.
Agenda Abstracts--Regional School Committee, November 21
Curriculum Update
The purpose of this report is to illustrate the curriculum "circle" of our organization. We are working with preK-12 thinking and planning now and are in the midst of developing curriculum guides in mathematics, science, reading and language arts, and history and social studies.
Math Update
Aligning curriculum and all of its components kindergarten through senior year is a new endeavor for our schools. Mathematics is the first area we have addressed with this alignment need in process. The purpose of this presentation and discussion is to 1) illustrate the scope and sequence of our mathematics curriculum, 2) acquire an understanding of our rationale and approach in the middle school, and 3) provide context and information about current issues in mathematics. While questions and topics may address specifics of the curriculum and instruction, a more in-depth report and program evaluation is forthcoming.
