Policy KCDB: Scholarships

Any individual or group wishing to make a monetary contribution tothe School Department’s Scholarship Fund must do so as follows:

A. Contributions may be made to either the existing GeneralScholarship Fund, to another existing specific scholarship or to create anew scholarship fund with a specific purpose. All contributions mustidentify both the School District (Amherst Schools, Pelham School, orAmherst-Pelham Regional School District) and the Scholarship Fund towhich it is being made. Contributions should be forwarded to the SchoolDistrict’s Business Office. The Superintendent of Schools and/or theDirector of Finance and Operations may accept scholarship contributionson behalf of the School Committee.

B. A request to set up a new scholarship may be made in writing tothe Superintendent of Schools. The request must identify theappropriate School Distict (Amherst Schools, Pelham School, orAmherst-Pelham Regional School District), the amount of the proposedmonetary contribution, the proposed name of the scholarship, the purposeof the scholarship, the method of determining the scholarshiprecipient(s), and the amount of the award(s). The School Committee willapprove the establishment of all new scholarships.
