Triangle Street

The Battle of Triangle Street

Scott, Isaiah, Shannon, and Devon

Triangle Street was built in the early 1820s by the East Streeters.

The street was built because the traffic from the north was going to the Boltwood Tavern. The East Streeters who liked the Baggs Tavern built a road that directed the traffic to the Baggs tavern.

The next morning after the first day of work the road was destroyed. The East Streeters did another day of work and they had guards guard the road in the night. The Up Towners kept on coming and they put up road blocks and signs that directed the traffic. The East Streeters tried to direct traffic to their own tavern. Once Charles Kellogg built a fence in the middle of the road. The taverns fought like this until the East Streeters finally won. Triangle Street was an official street!
