1905 - Women Workers at the Factory go on Strike

Why?
- 1905 - Big Employee Shortage
- The company's choices
- Create a factory run entirely by Japanese
- Sell out to a foreign corporation
- Go into bankruptcy- The company chose choice #1
- They planned to build an electric powered factory in East Amherst
- To start, one Japanese man was brought in
- The women workers saw it as a threat to their jobs
- So they went on strike
What Happened After?
- Company can't hire enough more workers
- Orders back up
- Japanese man laid off
- Plans for all-Japanese factory abandoned
- Women return to work
- Company still doesn't return to normal
- Goes out of business, 1935
