Quotes

These are quotes from Josiah Holland and Thomas Jefferson.

Josiah Holland founder of the Scribers monthly: “…taught a lesson, and let that lesson be remembered: That the rebellion of people against a government established by themselves is not justifiable, even in a extreme case, and can only result in dishonor to the state, and case, and can only result in dishonor to those who participate in it.”

Josiah’s quote, in his opinion, meant that the rebellion did not help the nation and was a disgrace.

Thomas Jefferson from Paris commented   “I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of its patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”

Thomas had a total opposite opinion of Josiah on the rebellion. He thought it was good for the nation and helps us build a better government.
