Closing of the Court of Common Pleas
On August 29 1786, 500 Hampshire county farmers, who called themselves “regulators”, marched to Northampton to prevent the court of common pleas from taking action against debtors and seizing their property. This was only one of the many court closings during Shays’ Rebellion.
