The History Of The Hampshire Gazette
The Hampshire Gazette was made on September 6, 1786, and is the oldest newspaper in Massachusetts. The paper was started before George Washington became president. The paper was made to inform the village folk of what was happening around the town. The newspaper was published to inform residents what the latest news was on Shays' Rebellion. This truly was an immediate result for Shays' Rebellion.
