This website on Shays Rebellion was created as part of Opening Windows, a collaboration among the Amherst, Springfield, and Hatfield school systems, the Center for Computer-Based Instructional Technology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, the Amherst History Museum, and the Special Collections at the Jones Library, Amherst. Each school chose a different focus for students so that they could delve into their local history.

Classroom teachers, technology teachers and curriculum and technology specialists at CCBIT worked together to provide students with primary documents, opportunities to visit historic sites, and opened them up to web-authoring programs in order to share what they had learned in their research.

This is the third year that students in Mr. Owen's class have participated in the Opening Windows project.
