Causes
All over
western
Massachusetts, many people were discontent. The American
Revolution had just ended and there was a huge debt to repay. The government
thought that each state was responsible for paying the war debt after the
Revolution. Many people thought that idea was unfair so they decided to rebel.
Lead by Revolutionary veteran Daniel Shays, they marched to Springfield
for their assault. This was called Shays' Rebellion.
