Ebenezer Mattoon served in the government in a number of different positions.  Here is a list of some of the positions.  

~ State senator from 1795 to 1796

~ Massachusetts state legislator

~ In 1800 he was elected to congress

~ Served as sheriff of Hampshire County for 20 years
