The authors of this web page are the children in Mr. Owen's fifth grade. We go to school at Wildwood Elementary in Amherst, Massachusetts. To do this site we had to go on field trips to the Amherst Town Hall and find out things that might be interesting to put on this site. The information that you read about came from books, the Internet, and the information that the people at the Town Hall and The Strong House gave us.
We had help from three people in the University of Massachusetts Computer Science Department. Dr. Vicky Getis found information in the Jones Library Special Collection and put the information on a web site so we could use it. Mr. Matthew Mattingly took the video of the clock and helped us put it in the web site. Vicky, Matthew, and Mr. Dave Hart helped us create the web site.

Hall web site,

Here are some things that kids in our class said doing this project:
Julia: I liked finding all the funky pictures on the web and doing the research too.
Ana: It was cool to learn about the people who died in the Civil War because some of them are buried in a cemetery which is near my house. There could be spooks.
Nicole: I learned a lot about the Town Hall's history, like before there was the Town Hall there was a place called Palmer's block where they had town meetings.
Sarah: I always thought that the Town Hall was some kind of church, but I know so much about Town Hall. I never knew that it has a clock and it got burned down.
Josh: I think learning how to make a web page is fun. The Town Hall is a cool thing to learn about.
Meg: Before I learned about the Town Hall, I thought is was a boring place, but it turned out to be really cool!!
Annie: I thought that being able to make a little clock tick was awesome.
Josh: Hi mommy!!!!
