Introduction

The Dickinson's were a wealthy family. They lived in the late 1800's. The road that they were occupying was called (and still is) Main Street. The two houses, one where Emily and her sister and her parents lived, one for her brother when he got married are now  museums.

Emily Dickinson's family was well known throughout Amherst.  Emily, however, was the most famous  in the family for her poetry.
