When Will the Evergreens be Open to the Public?

The 146-year-old Italian Villa Style house that was home to many people including Austin and Susan Dickinson… is finally opening to the public in the middle of the summer of 2002!

After 146 years of standing, there are many things to be done. The roof has been repaired many times, and still has problems. Lights, heat and walls have to be replaced or repaired. They are trying to keep the house the way it was when Austin and Susan Dickinson lived there.

The house will cost about $500,000.00 to repair, refinish and put security features in. About every room in the house has little motion detectors and smoke alarms. I would not try to break into the Dickinson House.

The downstairs of the Dickinson House will be open in a few months to a year. The upstairs will be open in a few years because there are a lot of things they have to look at to see what has to be done.
