Fixing Up The House
On April 13th a housewarming party was held to welcome the caretakers, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Burrows and their one-year-old daughter, as well as the members of the Women’s Club. Many people attended and excitedly talked about the plans for the Hills' old house.
When caretakers moved in they were given two rooms and a bath over the kitchen and a room over the dining room. They have kept everything in excellent condition and share the kitchen with the club.
The year after the club moved into the house, 50 meetings were held. But meetings were uncomfortable and, on March 16th, the club voted to make some changes to improve the house that would cost about $3,400. Most of the furniture is still original.
Many renovations were made soon after the Women's Club gained possession of the house. These changes included connecting rooms, opening doorways, refinishing furniture, installing plumbing, and repairing many other things.
Each year a new problem faces the club, but they take care of it efficiently. Over the past years the club has made countless efforts to improve the house and its condition.
