The Survival center
part of the North Amherst School was also was used as an
Art center.
The building was also used as a school, and as a Youth center, and is being used as a Head
Start school today.
The North
Amherst school was built in 1870, and it opened in 1871.
The building cost $8000 to build.
We don't know a lot about the art center but there must have been good art.
The first, and second floor is used for the Head Start and the basement is used for
the Survival Center.
Part of the survival center is storage.

This is the current Survival Center from
the outside.
