Gladys a purple gorilla loved bananas.  But, she smelled something other than bananas.  Gladys followed the smell to a pizzeria.  Gladys didn’t smell pizza, Gladys smelled the smell again.  She followed the smell to a fancy French café.  There were frog legs, fried snails, and frozen mousse.  She followed the smell.  She went to an ice cream stand.  She ate all the flavors.  That wasn’t what she smelled.  She was tired.  She smelled the smell one more time and she smelled . . .  If you want to figure out what it is read Gladys Goes Out to Lunch.  I think Gladys Goes Out to Lunch is cool.  I think kids should read Gladys Goes Out to Lunch because it is funny.  C.B.

Do you like bananas?  Gladys the gorilla likes bananas but she smelled something much better than bananas this time.  First she went to a pizzeria.  there were many pizzas but pizza was not what she smelled.  And then she smelled it again.  Yum!  So she wiggled her fingers and went off.  Soon she got to a fancy French restaurant.  She tried fried snails, frozen mousse, and frog legs.  But that wasn’t it either and she was glad because there was not enough food to feed a bird.  So she went off.  Soon she went to an ice cream shop.  There were many flavors.  She tried them all but ice cream was not what she smelled.  She got kind of full.  then she went to a place and there was what she smelled.  What do you think it was? Try Gladys Goes Out to Lunch by Derek Anderson, with bananas in abundance!  The characters are goofy Gladys and zigzagging zookeeper.  Gladys smells a smell that is no match for bananas.  She goes to four delicious restaurants – a pizzeria store, a French café, an ice cream store, and one more.  I love Gladys Goes Out to Lunch!  It’s a story that can’t be beat!  It really open up the world for you!  J. What’s that smell?  It smells better than bananas.  Gladys, a purple gorilla, is going to find out!  So she escapes from the zoo and follows the scent.  She finds herself in a pizzeria!  She tastes all the pizzas but . . . that was not the smell.  (The zookeepers are chasing after her.)  She found the sweet scent and followed it again.  She found herself in a fancy French café!  She tried all the foods, like frog legs.  That wasn’t the smell.  She tried fried snails.  That wasn’t the smell.  She tried chocolate mousse.  That wasn’t the smell.  So, she found the scent and set off again.  She found herself in an ice cream stand!  She tried all the flavors.  But they weren’t the smell so she found the smell and set off.  She sniffed and sniffed until she found a small food cart.  The smell was coming from there!  She looked around and saw . . . Gladys Goes Out to Lunch is such a wonderful and funny adventure!  Derek Anderson is the author of this book and the pictures are fabulous!  I love Gladys Goes Out to Lunch and you should too.  If you like bananas I think you would really love this book twice as much.  Gladys smells a smell and she follows it everywhere and at first she went to a pizzeria and then an ice cream cart, and café, and some other place.  And then, she finally found it.  It was . . .  If you want to know what Gladys smelled read Gladys Goes Out to Lunch.  (Oh, and by the way, Gladys is a gorilla, a purple one.) -A. If you like bananas, this is the book for you.  Gladys the gorilla loves bananas!  In this book there are three characters, Gladys and the zookeepers.  One day Gladys smells something that smells better than bananas.  What could it be?  She starts searching.  She follows the smell to a pizzeria and an ice cream stand and a fancy French café but it’s not there.  She searchers and searches and finally finds the smell.  If you want to know, read this great book.  R. Do you want to know about a purple gorilla?  Well if you do you will go bananas over this book.  Gladys escapes from the zoo.  As my second grade class has noticed, the zookeepers are on every page.    The pictures are so hilarious.  As Gladys the gorilla goes from pizzeria to ice cream shack to a fancy French café.  Gladys went to them all as if it were one two three.  Now what a crazy gorilla.  J.J.

Second grade read a book of Gladys Goes Out to Lunch by Derek Anderson.  And the funniest part was when she escaped from the zookeepers.  And plus, she really really loves bananas.  But she took ice cream from a little girl at the ice cream store and that was rude.  Gladys smelled something ? and it smelled good and tasted good to her and it was pizzas and the name of it was pizzeria.  And you should read Gladys Goes Out to Lunch.  But you should know that this book is so funny and good.  Plus I love this book and I was excited to read the book of Gladys Goes Out to lunch.  And plus if you want to find out what she smelled you will have to read the book to find out.  D.J.J.

I read Gladys Goes Out to Lunch written by Derek Anderson.  Gladys the gorilla smelled a delicious smell but can’t figure out where it’s coming from.  along the way Gladys tries many foods and goes to many restaurants, like frog legs, ice cream, pizza, and others.  It’s a great book with funny pictures and a very yummy recipe!  I think the book is good for all ages and I highly recommend it.  E.L.

Gladys ate bananas all the time.  The she smelled something better than banana.  First she went to a pizzeria.  There were pizzas with pepperoni, pesto, and she tried every pizza but it wasn’t that smell.  Then she went to a fancy French Café!  This had to be where the smell was coming from.  She tried frog legs, then frozen mousse, then fried snails.   She ate nasty things but it wasn’t the smell.  Then she went to an ice cream store and it had a lot of flavors of ice cream in fifteen different colors.  Gladys tried them all.  But ice cream wasn’t what she smelled.  Gladys was tired and her tummy was nearly full.  She smelled something different once more.  She walked and walked and it was . . .  If you want to see you’f better read this book.  Gladys is a gorilla and is purple.  It is such a fun book.  You should read it.  And oh, if you like this book you will love it.  A.A.
