Jump-Rope Club Performance

Jump-A-Thon

Jump Rope for Heart is a nationwide event conducted to educate students about the benefits of aerobic exercise and heart health. Most people do not realize that the risks for heart disease often begin in childhood, with early changes visible even in children as young as 3 to 5 years old. These changes can be halted or reversed by living a "heart healthy" life. This includes eating well, not smoking and staying physically active.

On February 14th and 15th, all the students at Fort River jumped rope for the American Heart Association. Many of them raised money for AHA. Last year the total funds raised exceeded $10,000.

    ALL  SCHOOL ASSEMBLY

On January 8, 2007 we had the first of our new, weekly, school-wide assemblies.

  • The messages included:
    • “We are all learners here.”
    • “We are a part of the whole world” (including an explanation of the winter solstice being the shortest day of the year all around the world in the northern hemisphere).
  • We recognized those with birthdays this week.
  • Our kindergarteners sang us a song about “everyone has feelings”.
  • We celebrated the learning accomplishments of a few students.
  • We all sang a song together.
