Printmaking 611 2 Credits

PREREQUISITE: EITHER 2-D OR 3-D FOUNDATIONS OF ART

This is a course for students who would like to explore a variety of printmaking techniques. Students will work with linoleum, woodcut and other relief printing techniques. Along with hand printing, students will learn to use a printing press to create monoprints, drypoint etchings, embossed prints and collographs. These techniques lend themselves to creating multiples of the same image or design. Variations in ink color and paper type allow students to create exciting variations. This course will emphasize the following concepts: composition, contrast, color theory. Students will be encouraged to experiment creatively throughout the course.
