NOTE: THIS COURSE IS OFFERED FOR GENERAL CREDIT

This trimester course is for students who need to strengthen their reading and study skills in preparation for taking the ninth grade English courses, Writing and Literature A and B. Reading Skills 9 is scheduled during the fall trimester, before Writing and Literature A and B. General areas of study include reading comprehension, vocabulary development/enrichment, rate/fluency, and study skills. Readings include short stories, articles, essays, one novel, and one play.  Students also participate in an independent reading and research program designed to improve proficiency in reading and research.
