Conflict Resolution: Problem-Solving Skills

Conflict Resolution: Problem-Solving Skills 2 Credits

Not Offered in 2008-2009

THIS COURSE IS DESIGNED AND TAUGHT BY ARHS STUDENTS WITH TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE IN CONFLICT RESOLUTION UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF A MEMBER OF THE FACULTY.

This trimester course is designed for students wishing to develop skills and techniques for problem-solving and resolving conflicts in their lives: in school, at home, on the street and in the workplace. The class meetings will be based on the workshop/discussion format with students and faculty trained in conflict resolution as facilitators. A member of the faculty will be present at class meetings as co-facilitator and moderator. Students will examine the origins and characteristics of conflict in their lives and will learn strategies for problem solving. A number of visiting speakers will address specific topics relating to problem solving in the school, community and workplace. Regular homework, reading, research and reports are to be expected.
