Conjunto de Bomba: An Afro-Puerto Rican Ensemble 635C 4 Credits

This is a two trimester performing ensemble that presents the Afro-Puerto Rican tradition of Bomba.  Topics covered include: the sacred drum/dance of African Palo as a foundation, the diverse styles of Bomba that have evolved in Puerto Rico since the 1600’s, and the less formal community traditions of street Bomba.  The Conjunto will perform at various community functions in the PioneerValley.
