SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS AND SENIORS ONLY

World Drum and Dance is a performance based class in which students learn to drum, dance, and sing in a variety of forms.  Students will develop skills in each of the disciplines while they gain an understanding of the historical significance of the respective genres and the relationship of music and dance to community building.  Effective listening skills and physical coordination will be developed over the course of the trimester in order for students to gain a basic proficiency in the art of sustained polyrhythmic communication between musicians, dancers, and singers.  The final exam consists of students performing and original composition of music and dance that illustrates the knowledge and experience gained over the course of the trimester. No prior training is necessary.
