| Chemistry | 236B | 4 Credits |
Open to students in grades: 10, 11, 12
Prerequisites: Concurrent enrollment in Algebra II / Honors, IMP II / Honors, IMP III / Honors, or equivalent; or by permission of the Department Head
Chemistry Honors provides a framework of chemical principles and applies mathematical methods to chemistry. The topics included in Chemistry will be covered in greater depth in Chemistry / Honors. In addition, concepts in kinetics, equilibrium, and thermodynamics will be studied. Students should be able to solve multi-step problems and analyze data graphically, mathematically, and verbally. In this rigorous course, independent work is required; significant out-of-class reading and study time is expected. Evaluation will consist of tests, problem sets, lab activities, and formal lab reports.
Note to incoming Sophomores: Students should only enroll in Chemistry / Honors as sophomores if they received a B or better in Ecology / Environmental Science / Honors; or by permission of the Department Head. Sophomores in this class must take the Chemistry MCAS in June.
