Course Description

Criminal Justice 156 2 Credits

This course examines crime in the United States, focusing on the adult and juvenile justice systems,individual rights, the role of police and the corrections system, and punishments, including the death penalty.  Students will analyze the nature of criminal behavior, the causes of crime and types and scopes of crime using textbook, periodical articles and current events for source material.  This course will provide substantial teacher support for completing assignments.  Regular completion of homework will be expected.  Assignments will include tests, quizzes and short essays, as well as an assessment of class participation.
