NOTE: THIS COURSE IS NOT OPEN TO STUDENTS WHO HAVE TAKEN HISTORY OF EUROPE/AP.
This course presents a multi-faceted examination of European history from the Industrial Revolution to the recent past. Nationalism, imperialism, the world wars, modern art, music, and cultural trends will be included. European history will be considered in the context of broader global developments and current events. Students will use a variety of primary source materials and secondary interpretations to enrich their study. Daily reading assignments in textbook and supplemental articles will be reviewed in class discussion and provide the basis for a variety of individual and group projects. Student interest will determine the specific focus of in-depth units. Tests and quizzes will also assess student progress.
