Course Description

Consumer Auto 516 2 Credits

NOTE: OPEN TO SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS AND SENIORS ONLY

Consumer Auto aims to prepare the student for the responsibilities of car ownership. The course covers the basic functions of the automobile, routine maintenance, repairs and trouble shooting. Students will also learn about researching and buying automobiles, financing, insurance, state inspection and the economic implications of ownership. Working safely both in school and at the roadside during an emergency will be covered as will how to handle car dealers and mechanics. The emergence of new automotive technology will also be discussed. With this knowledge the student will have the ability to save money and make a wise decision regarding a major investment.
