PREREQUISITE: VIDEO AND AUDIO TECHNOLOGY I OR PERMISSION OF THE INSTRUCTOR
This class offers students who already know the basics of composition, camera operation, lighting and sound equipment and non-linear editing an opportunity to focus on the form or art of filmmaking and develop greater proficiency in non-linear editing. Students will work on 2-3 in depth activities individually or in small groups. The emphasis will be on the documentary and music video and the use of special effects and storytelling techniques used in those genres, including planning, script-writing and production The non-linear editing software will be Premiere Pro 1.5 and Adobe After Effects. Studio pieces are brief, live shows that most often take the form of interviews, talk shows or an ARHS news broadcast. Studio production activities involve coordination of video switchers, cameras, multiple microphones and lighting as well as planning/scripting. This class does require a commitment of some outside of class time to film and edit required pieces. In addition, some of the work must be done in groups due to the availability of equipment.
