VIDEO & AUDIO TECHNOLOGY II OR VIDEO & AUDIO TECHNOLOGY I AND PERMISSION OF THE INSTRUCTOR

This class introduces students to studio production techniques. Students will study and apply contemporary standards for live studio work.  We will plan and produce thirty-minute shows for redistribution, with students taking on the roles of Director, Producer, Lighting Technician, Sound Technician and Camera Operator. The 30 minute news programs will include pre-recorded journalistic pieces Production teams will develop scripts, coordinate talent, obtain appropriate legal releases as well as complete the technical work as part of this class. The ability to work in cooperative teams as well as the ability to take individual responsibility for producing an assigned segment of a show are important keys to success in this class. There will be a limited amount of homework in this class as well as an expected commitment to film and edit on occasion outside of class time. Curriculum will also cover broadcasting history, media ownership, and current events in broadcast journalism.
