Latin IV
| Latin IV | 466aB | 4 Credits |
This course is for students who have completed Latin III and wish to continue the study of Latin literature by reading the lyric poetry of Catullus and Ovid. Students taking the course at the AP level need to have a strong base in grammar and syntax on which they will build a sophisticated understanding of the poetry of Catullus and Ovid. Oral reading and the memorization of brief Latin passages help develop an appreciation for the literary qualities of the poetry. Quizzes and tests will require translation, scansion, thorough explanation of grammar and syntax and sophisticated literary analysis. Daily written translation is required for homework.
