Model UN 2011

Dartmouth Conference

ARHS sent 12 Model UN delegates to Dartmouth College, which hosted its 6th annual DartMUN Conference over the weekend of April 1-3.  The following people won awards at Dartmouth:

Outstanding Delegate: Will Viederman, representing El Salvador in the historic League of Nations; Rike Ajao representing Zimbabwe in the African Union; Eleanor Morse representing France in the UN Security Council.

Verbal Commendation: Jacob Mooney, representing France in the World Trade Organization

Honorable Mention: Zeke Foerster, representing France in Disarmament and International Security; Delbar Mamedzade, representing France in Legal; Ejeong Baik, representing France in the historic League of Nations; Conor Power, representing the Secretary of Defense in the US Cabinet.

MIT Conference

Students from the ARHS Model United Nations Club attended the MIT Model United Nations Conference (MITMUNC) at MIT in Cambridge in early February 2011. MITMUNC is a new, unique, and innovative high school Model United Nations conference, focusing on committees that have a scientific or technological foundation.

Several members of the club were honored for outstanding work at the conference. Conor Power won the award for Best Delegate in his committee, the UN Security Council. Jonathan Simonds was also on the UN Security Council and earned an award for having the best position paper. Eleanor Morse won a Verbal Commendation for work in her committee, the Advisory Panel on Darfur, where she represented Hilary Clinton. Amutha Muthukumar won an award for having the best position paper on her committee, the World Health Organization.
