SFT was co-founded my Dadon Ngodup and Tenzin Dhekyong in 2004. The Club was started for the purpose educating the Amherst Regional High School about the Tibetan cause. Before Dadon Ngodup started High School, she was invested in SFT with several college student. This is how she knew for a fact that she wanted to start one at the Amherst Regional High School.

                       Tibet's History

Tibet was first invaded in 1949 and fully taken over by 1959, during this time his Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama was in ruling. Before full occupation of Tibet, the Dalai Lama fled Tibet with about 80,000 Tibetans. He took refuge in Daramsala, India where he started some Tibetan schools for young Tibetan children. Even after the Chinese invasion and occupation, Tibetans were fleeing to India and Nepal for refuge.
