Introduction

SEC is a substantially separate special education public day school which strives to promote the least restrictive environment for all students. Faculty is comprised of an educational coordinator, special education and content based licensed teachers, a full time adjustment counselor, and trained teaching assistants. The SEC program works to provide a positive educational and therapeutic experience for each of our students. Students at SEC have the opportunity to transition to the Amherst Pelham Regional High School for a partial day or on a full time basis. We believe in getting to know each student, building on his/her strengths and interests, working collaboratively with parents/guardians and community providers to maximize the potential for success for each of our students.

Mission Statement

Within a smaller therapeutic learning environment, SEC provides opportunities for academic success, fostering relationships, and the development of positive decision making skills to promote independence and social responsibility. We prepare our students to pursue further studies at the college level and/or transition to the work force through the attainment of functional academic, vocational and independent living skills.
