Spring Trimester, 2008
Welcome to the ARHS Senior Year
Options Program website!
We will be working
closely with senior throughout their experience in the
Senior Year Options Program. Each student registering for
this course, may
choose to take the SYOP either D & E period or E period
only. This is a PASS or FAIL course only and students
can earn up to 2 credits for 32 hours (E Period only) or
4 credits for 64 hours (D&E Period) attending seminar,
completing assignments, and working on their chosen
project. Hours have been adjusted based on
shortened Senior spring schedule. These hour requirements are for
spring trimester only. Seminar topics covered include: resume
and cover letter writing, etiquette and dress for
success, and financial decision making along with other
topics relevant to life beyond high school. Students
will be responsible for keeping us informed of their
project status and documenting completed hours.
Seniors will have the
choice of many different projects within this course.
They can choose to develop a community service project,
participate in an internship or act as a teaching
assistant with a class here at ARHS. We
strongly encourage students to secure their placement
BEFORE their trimester begins.
Please click on the different links on the left side of
this page to find out instructions for each placement
option. We will work with every student in the
first two weeks of class to assist them in choosing
which option they will take as well as securing their
placement setting if that is needed.
Each student signed up
for the course, as well as their parent and guardian, will
be expected to complete and sign the
Senior Year Options Agreement Form. This form
clearly states what the student, parent/guardian, and
school agree to do in order to make the time successful
for your student.
Students will also be
required to complete monthly
time
sheets as well as have their site supervisors
complete the
Massachusetts Work-Based Learning Plan.
Please read the attached
Course Expectations which clearly outline seminar
topics, assignments and important deadlines.
Thank you for your
interest in the SYOP. This is an exciting new
program for seniors and we are looking forward to
working with them this year. If you would like to
communicate with either of us about the program or your
child’s progress, please feel free to contact us via
phone or email at the contact information listed below.
Sincerely,
