This class welcomes students who wish to begin an accelerated study of Russian. It serves as an introduction to the Russian through practice in communication skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The students will learn to describe in detail aspects of their daily lives: at school, at home and on the weekends. Comparisons of English and Russian language make both more meaningful and an introduction to the history and culture of Russian provides background. Daily homework is to be expected. Students in this course must be highly motivated and self-directed to complete grammatical, vocabulary and cultural materials necessary to pass the oral proficiency exam and pass to Russian Intermediate I.
