School Committee Seeks Community Feedback for Superintendent's Evaluation
The School Committees are seeking community input as part of the upcoming Superintendent's Evaluation. See the letter below from Regional School Committee Chair Farshid Hajir to find out how you can submit feedback.
February 9, 2010
Dear Members of the Amherst, Leverett, Pelham, and Shutesbury Communities,
Dr. Alberto Rodriguez, who joined us on July 1, 2009 as the Superintendent of Amherst, Pelham, and Amherst-Pelham Regional School Districts, is undergoing an annual performance review. At their January 26th meeting, the School Committees of Union 26 (the Superintency Union of Amherst and Pelham elementary districts) and that of the Regional Schools jointly approved a Process and Timeline for said evaluation. As part of that process, the public is invited to submit commentary on the performance of the Superintendent. Your comments, which must carry your name and address, can be sent to the Committees care of the Regional School Committee Chair, Mr. Farshid Hajir, via email at
farshidhajir@gmail.com (subject: Superintendent Evaluation) or by US Mail at
Farshid Hajir, 71 Cave Hill Road, Leverett, MA 01054.
The deadline for receipt of your comments is February 23, 2010. The annual performance review is scheduled for the joint meeting of Union 26 and Regional School Committees on March 9, 2010. The public is invited to attend, of course.
According to Massachusetts General Law, together with development of policies/goals and review/approval of the budget, proper supervision of the Superintendent, is one of the three fundamental duties of the School Committee. Your help with the latter is of extreme importance to our mission. The School Committees thank you in advance for your contribution to the important task of providing positive feedback and/or constructive criticism in the spirit of improving the quality of our schools.
Respectfully,
Farshid Hajir, chair
Amherst-Pelham Regional School Committee
