K 12 Math Review by Dr. Andrew Chen

Attached below please find a copy of the K-12 Math Review, authored by Dr. Andrew Chen, consultant.

Dr. Chen will present his findings at the School Committee meeting on Tuesday, November 9. I have been asked to prepare a presentation to include data in math achievement and instructional resources from comparison and benchmark school districts, as well.

In the immediate future, the K-16 Math Council and I will collaborate to review Chen's recommendations and begin to develop an action plan consistent with School Committee Policy IL.

I hope to engage the school community in civil and respectful discourse around a complex issue of teaching and learning in order to achieve consensus about how best to serve to the needs of all students in our district through mathematics education.
