Directors Named for After School Programs
Submitted by kochn on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 1:56pm.
Superintendent Maria Geryk and Town Manager John P. Musante are pleased to announce that, through the new Out-of-School Time partnership between the Amherst Public Schools and the Town of Amherst, the Amherst After School Programs are poised to serve more children with activities and enrichment opportunities that are well-aligned across all program sites beginning with the 2012-2013 school year. These opportunities will include visual and performing arts, instrumental lessons, cultural and language activities, outdoor education, health and wellness programs, and academic intervention and enrichment through the Five-Colleges Partnership.
Danielle Phillips of Capacidad will continue to direct the after school program at Fort River Elementary; Janna Essig of the Marks Meadow After School Program will continue to direct the after school program at Wildwood Elementary; and Grace Marczuk of LSSE Prime Time will direct the program at Crocker Farm Elementary. James Regan, Out-of-School Time Coordinator, will seek grant funding for the after school programs on behalf of the program. Mr.
Regan’s counterpart for the Town of Amherst is Stacey LeCuivre, LSSE Youth Program Director. In addition to overseeing the grant funding for the programs, Mr. Regan and Ms. LeCuivre will work closely with the site coordinators to develop opportunities for all students.
Superintendent Geryk stated, “This is an exciting time as we leverage our resources in partnership with the Town of Amherst to strengthen our already outstanding after school programs and serve more of our district’s children.”
Town Manager Musante stated, "I am excited to be partnering with the Amherst Public Schools and the creative and experienced program leadership team we have assembled to work with our young people."
Families interested in enrolling their children at any of the three Amherst Elementary Schools should contact LSSE at 259-3065 or LSSE.org.
