FY2014 Amherst School District Budget Clarifying Information

Since the February 5^th public hearing on the FY2014 Amherst School District budget (full video available here), there has been a great deal of community discussion regarding the projected FY14 appropriated budget outlined additions and cuts. While community engagement is admirable and essential, it is important that the conversation be based on accurate information, and there have been some challenges in interpreting the line-by-line item budget. To that end, clarifying information is available below. Additionally, the Amherst School Committee has decided to delay voting the budget at their next meeting on Tuesday, February 26 and will, instead, have a second public hearing that evening. This will allow community members time to review the clarified information and provide input and/or ask questions.
