Parent Connection
The children are doing a great job learning the routines these past few weeks.  We have been working on switching from subject to subject and working quietly with partners.  Every child should have a binder to bring notes, papers back and forth to school each day.  I call this our Parent Connection Folder.  Look for a new note like this one most Mondays.

I want to thank everyone who sent in supplies of Kleenex and wipes. We are set for now with these items. We have had a run of scabs being picked and little scrapes, so if anyone would like to donate some band aids to the classroom, it would save on children having to go see the nurse.  Thanks so much.

Book Orders  Today I am sending  home book orders. You are welcome to purchase books or not.  With the purchases, we are able to earn points to get new books for the classroom. The orders are due next Friday Sept. 18th. Included is a letter about ordering the books directly on line. This really makes ordering much easier for me because there is not exchange of money and the site figures out the books needed so all I have to do is add the book orders that were brought back to school.

Social Studies  We have read several stories about friends and discussed them as a group.  We are writing stories about friendship.

Calling all bears back to school as soon as they can come.

Science:  Last week we experimented with creating different shaped bubbles.  We used our observation skills then recorded pictures of what we saw. We will also use the Scientific Method to:

  1. Formulate a question
  2. Make an hypothesis
  3. Collect the materials and do the procedure
  4. Observe and record the results.
  5. Come to a conclusion.

Your child will chose an experiment that he/she would like to do this week.

Some questions we have are:

What makes good bubble solution?

Does surface effect bubbles?

How do dry or wet surfaces affect bubbles?

Bubble Extravaganza- This is our special ending to our bubble study. Right now it looks like it will be on Fri. Sept. 18 at 1:40. If you are able to help out, please let me know.

Math:  Included with this note is a letter about our first math unit. Please feel free to call or write about any questions or concerns you may have.
