Parent Connection

September

Almost all students now have a 3 ring binder. This will be used to bring notes, schoolwork, and homework back and forth from school.

I try to write you a quick note each Monday to let you know what we have done the previous week and what important dates or information that you may need to know.

Help needed: During the year we will need parents to help in the classroom or on a field trip. If you would like to help please send me a note. Thanks

Also we need a few supplies:

Kleenex

Band-Aids

Zip lock baggies

Wipes

 

If you see a good deal on any of these and would like to donate a box to the classroom it will be greatly appreciated.

 

The first week of school has been mainly setting down the ground rules and learning the procedures in the classroom.

Next week we will begin assessment tests in reading to see what skills and reading levels we need to use to accommodate your child’s needs.

Social Studies: We will be studying about friendships and reviewing our no bullying policy at school. The students have already made a friendship board.

Science: This month the Ecobus comes to second grade to learn about where we get our clean water.  We will study the water cycle and go on a field trip September 30th to Atkin’s reservoir.  I would like at least one parent to help.  Please let me know.
