Superintendent Search 2010

Our school district is now in the process of searching for a new Superintendent of Schools to begin work in July 2011. Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates has been hired to assist the School Committees in this search process. Consultants Al Argenziano and John Connolly of HYA began their work on October 27 and October 28 by conducting meetings with school, parent, and community groups, including a public forum on October 27. In addition to the public meetings, an online survey offered an opportunity for community members to share their perceptions on the importance of various characteristics commonly found in effective superintendents.

On December 20, Rick Hood, Nora Maroulis and Catherine Sanderson met to choose the remaining members of the search committee. The full committee is now as follows:

Leadership Profile

On November 23rd, HYA presented the Leadership Profile to the school committee. This is the document that describes what the community has said they want in a superintendent based on information gathered by HYA.

Next steps

• December - the search committee has been chosen, and HYA is recruiting.

• January 5 - HYA presented a slate of 5 candidates to the search committee.

• January 11 & 12 - the search committee interviewed the 5 candidates and narrowed it down to 3 finalists.

• January 12 - 3 finalists were presented to the full school committee: John Bayless, Gerald Kohn, and Maria Geryk

• January 19, 20 and February 3 - the 3 finalists were interviewed by the full school committee. Also on these dates the public had an opportunity to meet the finalists - see the schedule of events for those days.

• Sunday, February 6 -- the school committee met from 1 to 5 pm to make a final selection
