Dear Parents,
Thank you for joining in the
school’s effort to make your child’s education a top priority. There are a few requests I have that you can
help me with.
First, please make sure that
your child has a 3-ring binder at least 1” thick. There are places on campus where those can be
picked up. Organizers can be home made
or manufactured, but there needs to be space for five sections in the notebook.
Second, I would like you to
help keep your child accountable for the homework. It is such an important daily habit to
develop, and your child is at the point in which most of the responsibility is
on the student, not the teacher.
Periodically, I will be handing out calendars that show all the class
and homework assignments for each day. Any time you have questions as to what we’ve
been doing in class or whether or not there is homework,
you can refer to that calendar.
Third, if your child seems
lost or needs extra help, please encourage him or her
to seek outside help. I’m available after
school, and so are many other math teachers devoted to helping your child
succeed. There are also lots of peer
tutors available as well as resources online.
Lastly, I’d like to request
that you email me any time you have concerns.
The telephone is fine, but with email I can attach your child’s grades,
missing work, assignments, etc. The
email system is also more reliable than the phone system at the high school.
I am at your service any time
you have concerns or need help. Please
fill out the information below and have your child return it to me for the
first homework grade in the grade book.
Yours
Truly,
Austin
Evans
