Logos
- A logo is an iconic
symbol designed to represent a company, organization, product,
service, event and sometimes certain places .

- Logos are trademarks,
owned by the company and registered with the U.S.
Patent and Trademark Office
- If you do not want
sometone to steal
your logo, you should trademark it.
- Every graphic design
company designs logos for clients. They charge from several hundred
to many thousands of dollars.

Occasionally
companies redesign their logos. They might redesign because their
old logo looks out of date or the company's services or image has
changed over time.

In 2000, the World Wildlife
Fund sued the World Wrestling Federation on the grounds that they
did not obey their agreement not to use the WWF abbreviation. In
response, the WWF, changed their name to World Wrestling Entertainment
and removed the "F" from their logo:

In 1992, Syracuse University
spent tens of thousands of dollars to a graphic design company to
design a new logo:

They were then sued for
trademark infringement. Another company had trademarked an almost
identical design. Now they use this one:

In 1996 Syracuse University
officials wanted to replace Otto the Orange as the mascot because
they thought something more aggressive, like a shark or a wolf would
sell more merchandise.

That spring, the basketball
team went to the final four. The University apparently realised
that successful teams is what sells merchandise. They never spoke
of replacing Otto again.
