It was awesome, “The tension, victory so close you could burst into tears, you’d think you were in a soap opera,” said Charlie Forray, recallingthe overwhelming feelings that he experienced during the intense games at Field Day. A particular hostility between the sophomores and seniors emerged, with almost equal numbers of fans at the Flag football event, the seniors won by two blue shirts. Through rain and drastic conditions the freshman battled it out with the sophomores, although the freshman tried to distract the sophomores with a flashy show of their gymnastic talents, in the end the sophomores prevailed. The juniors, looking dominating in their black attire, were in fact dominated by the seniors in blue. After rushing the plate, and defending their upper classmen pride throughout three extra innings, the seniors lost the game of wiffle ball. When asked why he enjoyed the game of croquet, Ben Paus-Weiler said, “God, I love those balls and mallets”. The sophomore team they were playing against lost “pretty badly”. Controversy in every event, representing true Amherst spirit.
