This course will explore the uses and potential of the Microsoft Office program. The class will use a series of simulations, exercises and assignments from other classes to review keyboarding skills and develop an understanding and some foundation skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point. Students will explore how Microsoft Office can be used as a managerial, organizational and analytical tool. Students will work on improving keyboarding skills as they review the keyboard,
document standards and formatting using Microsoft Word. Students will learn how to manage and present data using the 61 spreadsheet and database programming of Excel. In addition to exercises and simulations, students will learn how to use this program to manage and present data (graphs and tables) for science/technology labs and written reports. Students will learn the basics involved in presenting projects on a computer using Power Point. Grading will consider on-task time, class notebook or
portfolio, worksheets, quizzes, tests, projects and activities, reports (oral or written), class participation and care and use of the equipment. Students who enroll in this course should be able to type at least 20 words per minute.
