Goal 1: Provide an appropriate level of
challenge for each child at every grade level.
Strategies for achieving this goal:
- Identify and coordinate the curriculum and
benchmarks for student progress.
- Within grade levels
- Between grade levels
- Use the identified benchmarks as a means for
assessing progress.
- Implement differentiated instructional
practices to meet the needs of all students.
- Provide staff development opportunities,
with topics including student literacy skills and SIOP.
- Focus on cultural aspects of learning when
determining instructional methods and materials.
- Encourage teachers to share their best
practices in differentiating curriculum.
- Refine progress-monitoring procedures and the
coill1ection to standardized test results, including the development
of individual student success plans.
- Involve the Wildwood community in development
of a world language program at the school.
Goal 2: Strengthen Wildwood community
commitment to including and involving all children and their families.
Strategies for achieving this goal:
- Develop a coordinated approach, with staff,
PTO, and Diversity Group, to ensure that all families feel included,
important, and involved.
- Continue ongoing projects such as PTO
Class Parents, the Wildwood Window, the Wildwood Wire, the web
site, and opportunities for face-to-face contact.
- Develop programming for parents, including
topics presented by staff.
- Ensure that all written materials distributed
by the school community are accessible in the languages read by
families.
Goal 3: Improve all elements of the dining
experience at Wildwood.
Strategies for achieving this goal:
- Advocate improvement of nutritional value and
variety of meals. Advocate serving more locally grown and fresh
foods.
- Create community through positive dining
experiences.
- Promote pro-social behaviors.
- Reduce stress, noise, rushing, and
confinement.
- Teach the value of good nutrition in
conjunction with food service improvements.
Goal 4: Improve the physical environment.
- Begin planning for future renovation,
addressing such issues as air quality, access to sunlight, and noise
reduction.
- Identify simple, inexpensive opportunities for
improvement to the physical environment
